Support affordable transportation for those who need it
RATS is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization meeting the transportation needs of Rockbridge and Alleghany residents, particularly those with transport barriers.
A large share of RATS clients receive Medicaid, which covers necessary transportation costs for its members. However, Medicaid does not reimburse RATS for the full actual cost of a trip. Further, most other insurance does not cover transportation for its members. For those clients, our fares are based on the person's household income and other considerations.
Therefore, RATS loses money on nearly every ride, requiring
us to rely on other sources of funding to remain operational.
RATS relies on financial support from local and national organizations and agencies, as well as individual contributions. Your financial support is vital to continue RATS service and to meet the transportation needs of those with limited resources. Please consider making a tax deductible donation to RATS!
